This piece was designed with the help of my son, Josh.  I “saw” it in my head and was ready to torch a canvas to make it happen when he took over the torching. I think it was when he heard the word “torch”.

A masonite board was cut to fit behind the canvas to hold the heavier pieces.  I covered this with newsprint and painted it with titan white then scrounged it up for the backdrop.  A stenciled image was glued down with matte gel medium then followed by bits & pieces of found art to fit the shape of the image.  So many pieces just happened to fit perfectly.  The canvas went through many morphs to end up with something I was okay with.  I covered glue and spaces in this piece with melted bees wax.  By covering the gaps with the wax it made the embellishments cohesive with the image.

P.S.: If you can’t see the image squint at it from a distance.  She speaks for herself…

“Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have”

Some people say I’m crafty – some say I’m scrappy.  All I know is that I like to repurpose things in crafty, scrappy ways.  I’m a “rejuvenator”.  Putting new life into worn out things sends a message.  Usually my creations literally do send messages others are more subtle.

“Do what you can, where you are, with what you have” became my motto and my mantra as a young wife and mother.  I would repeat it often in the years to come and it has never let me down.  Ideas will start to flow with this simple problem solving technique.

“Do what you can”…right now, in this moment…”Where you are”…you often have just what you need…”With what you have”…look around you.  Be still; listen, for the ideas will flow when the need arises – if you let it.  It can become a life style and a challenge to create decorations for our houses, toys & costumes for our children & clothes with what we have on hand.  Just look at it differently.

I can’t say all my creations were good ideas but they say that “mistakes are the portals of discovery”.  I found that it is best not to re-use underwear elastic because everyone knows where it came from.  I learned to check out a fabric scrap completely before you cut it up for a doll and it was an expensive blouse of my daughters that I was going to mend.  But working with the mistakes I made often led to new ideas.  My motto is a good one and now I challenge others to do the same.  We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to put our skills to work with the worn out and forgotten arts and creations of the past.

When I look at the linens and needlework that manage to drift down to me, I am touched that a person spent their time and talents to make something so precious.  Displaying them as art then sharing them can create bonds with others that lead to interesting conversations and friendships.  It’s a marriage of the Past and the Present in an artful way.

By looking at things in different ways we can create unusual, one of a kind pieces to make our homes cozy and warm.  When we do this, a funny thing happens.  Our hearts and our lives become cozy and warm too.  “Doing what you can…where you are…with what you have will always increase your creativity in making your home more inviting to others.

Satisfied With His Manna

250
…a Word of the Lord from times past…

Yes, you have My forgiveness. Seek My peace & contentment. Fear not the hours of the day or the night for I watch over you like a mother eagle. I hover over you at the dawn & at the dusk. I count your pinions and I reimburse. I count it a joy to behold you and to be a part of you.

Speak forth these marvels you are about to see and feel. They are a small part of Me, but expansive. They grow & stretch as with any need. They come & go as your breath…invisible but real…made up of certain components but sure.

I will expand your horizons & dreams. I will diminish your fears & failings. Those things you seek shall be given unto you. Go in peace, walk in peace.

Manifest My goodness to the world around you. Speak forth My words & gain understanding, re-establish yourself with Me, with My Word spoken to you. Do not seek a feast or Sundays & famine or the week.  Seek a constant diet on a daily basis & a daily balance.  Open My Word & I will minister to you effectively. Labor not over this, just yield. Do not feel confused; just be willing to be led. Be willing to be shown. I will do the rest. I am the teacher; do not feel you must tutor yourself. It is my job & obligation to fulfill My purposes in you.  All you must do is be willing & yield.

Show Me the pathway for your feet & I will show you the gold & treasure upon the way. You are precious to Me & I give you My heart. I share with you the treasures brought up within My being. I share them readily with you & lovingly bid you to enjoy & be satisfied with the manna I serve.

Behold the Goodness of the Lord!!

Morning Thoughts on Intercessing…

This is supposed to help…writing that is…capturing the random thoughts that seem worthy of documenting.  Sometimes I wonder if it is a procrastination technique that is acceptable.  Other times I know that it helps energize me.  I look back & see what my priorities are because that is what comes to the surface.

Yesterday @ church Bob was talking about “Ozzie” (a.k.a. Oswald Chambers)* nailing him once again.  Ozzie has that way about him.  It was on the gift of discernment & what we are supposed to do with it.  Life comes when we see the “fault” in another & turn to God with it in prayer.  Intercede for that person, find God’s opinion about them & let it rest with Him.  Like a butterfly lifting his wings to the air.  In turn God will give life to that and work in the person’s heart.  The reverse is true if we see the fault & keep it to ourselves it starts to decay.  The longer we hold it the more it festers & works a type of death, not in the other person but IN US!  It leads to resentment that turns to bitterness which sometimes becomes a disease in our physical body.  Let it Go…

Thought:  Do all of our spiritual gifts become stale, spoiled, rotten if we don’t give them back to God & keep them for ourselves?

Further discussion with Bob on the way to the airport; Intercessors are the most overlooked people by man & fellow Christians. Not by God though!  He has to count on them to bring Heaven onto the Earth.  It brings new light to the statement, “if you want to be great in the Kingdom of God, learn to be a servant of all”.  Intercessors are key to the battle.  We are placed by God into vocations; work places etc. for His purposes not just to buy the bacon.

Maybe this is a method of harnessing random thoughts not just capturing them…
